Welcoming Sadie, Max and Freya

Sadie and Max were born on July 26th 2023.

Big life changes for their parents Ally and Andrew! (And grandparents......)

We are starting their cultural life with some relaxing pieces of (mainly) quiet piano music to send them to sleep in the best possible way. It includes "Waltzing with Sadie and Max", my initial dedication to their musical life.  I wonder if Lisa and I can waltz with Sadie and Max to this tune on their 18th birthday?  That would be something to look forward to.

Freya arrived on April 14th 2026, a joy for her mum Maddy, and of course for cousins Sadie and Max.  As they get to know each other and share in each others' lives, I look forward to encouraging their love of music and the arts in general.

"I Can See Stars" is devoted to the wonders that lie ahead for these children.  The Universe is impossibly old. However the kids are refreshingly new and they have the whole amazing adventure ahead of them as long as we guide them along the journey.

The latest piece I have added is Automne by Cecile Chaminade, a contemporary of Claude Debussy.  Great grandmother Alison May (my mother) was an aspiring and dedicated pianist who worked hard in her youth to develop her piano skills.  One of her favourite pieces was this work by Chaminade and she was very proud to be able to present it at her diploma exam when she was around 21 years old.  I only learnt it in 2026 when I came across my mother's tattered old copy of the score in my cupboard.  It is a wonderfully evocative and well written piece that I wish I had discovered earlier.   It is mainly quiet and gentle, but there are a couple of thunderstorms along the way!
